Liffo and Università di Pollenzo together to nurture innovation.
Liffo is a Supporting Member of the Università di Scienze Gastronomiche di Pollenzo, the first international academic reality entirely dedicated to food culture in a multidisciplinary key.
This partnership stems from a shared vision of sustainable innovation in the agri-food sector and allows us to collaborate on research and development projects, with particular attention to the quality of raw materials, the integrity of production processes, and food sustainability.
Being part of the UNISG network also means having direct access to a new generation of food professionals, with whom we activate moments of dialogue and joint projects, also through the educational trips organized by the University.
History and mission.
The University of Gastronomic Sciences at Pollenzo, founded and promoted in 2004 by the international association Slow Food in collaboration with the regions of Piedmont and Emilia Romagna, is a non-state university legally recognized by the Italian state.
The peculiarity of its courses attracts students from dozens of different countries, interested in the original educational project that, combining study, practice, and educational trips around the world, enables them to work on developing the future scenarios of food.
This methodological and didactic approach provides students with a global vision of both past and present food production systems, while also allowing them to appreciate the richness of cultural diversity.
The university trains gastronomists, new professional figures who have interdisciplinary knowledge and skills in the sciences, culture, politics, economics, and ecology of food and are able to develop values such as sustainability and sovereignty of global food systems, understanding all phases from production to consumption.
The cornerstone of what can be defined as a gastronomist is a deep understanding of food as a value and its important role in creating and shaping society.
To date, students who have attended and are attending the Università di Scienze Gastronomiche di Pollenzo number over 4000.
